A message from Jèrriais tutor Colin Ireson

I’m grateful to Colin Ireson for this message which he sent to this site a few weeks ago:

“Bouônjour Melyn, Delighted to see your Word of the Day etc and that you are keen to promote “not’ précieuse langue Normande” (our precious Norman language). I teach with l’Office du Jèrriais (now winding down to semi-retirment!) but pleased to have found you. A couple of, I hope, helpful comments: when you post, can I suggest you add a suffix indicating whether it is a verb or noun, as your recent ‘sink’ and ‘pick’ could be misunderstood. I see you have done so with marchi = to march, though this is usually to walk, in everyday Jèrriais. First found you onTwitter, which I try to avoid! Have you seen my colleague Marianne Sargent’s website Learn Jèrriais.com? I’ faut hauchi not’ langue! Bein à vous, Colin”
